FALL BACK Ma.k 1/35th |
In 2886 the Strahl National Defence Army detached a special unit called the RED CLAWS to destroy a number of Mercenary Army supply depots, this 8 man unit were highly trained in covert operations especially behind enemy lines. The mission went completely to the letter until the last depot was destroyed and the Unit became surrounded by the Mercenary Army. |
The RED CLAWS fought there way out of the trap into the rocky and mud hole terrain but not after loosing 5 good men to the Mercs. Thinking they had succeeded in escaping SGT Wayne Berdans was hit in the right leg damaging his power cable, unable to go any further he orders CPL R.M Hunter and PVT R.J Nash to FALL BACK to the pick up point. The pair make it to the pick up point and give their briefs regarding the incident which SGT Wayne Berdans was classed as MIA. And as always the dio and figures were painted and weatherd using Vallejo and GW paints and pastels. |
RECIPE |
Mesuline - The Mesulines I picked up of ebay and did some minor conversions to the two on the ridge and a little more on the SCT lying down. |
Base - The base is a picture frame I picked up from the local two dollar shop, the edging is balsa wood and foam was used to raise the base to simulate a small ridge. The ground cover is a mix of palster of paris, kitty litter and sand, the dead trees I got out of the back yard garden and the shrubs are from Woodland Scenics. The small mud holes were done by adding some paint to some Woodland Scenics Real water and painting it into areas that were sucken once the plaster dried. |

THUNDERBIRD 1 - SCOTT TRACY with hoverbike 4 inch |
I received this figure when I got the TAKARA Virgil Tracy figure and decided to make another very easy diorama. Once I got the look and feel of the dio I painted and weathered everything using Vallejo, GW paints and pastels. As with Virgil diorama I wanted the original feel of TB's and have the scenery look realistic and the character have that puppet feel to him. |
RECIPE |
Scott and Hoverbike - Are from TAKARA's Microman series the only thing I changed was the hands as again I think they were to small. I swapped the hands for some 6" hands from the Angel action figures. I also repainted the head, boots and sash re- adjusted the sash to fit better. I painted over the old International logo and replaced it with one a printed of the net and glued inplace. The hoverbike came with the figure and I just removed the wheels that made it roll. As with the Virgil figure I decided to keep the figure articulated so I could put him in different poses when I get bored with the sitting pose. |
Base - I picked up the base from the craft section at my local hardware shop, I used plaster of paris and added fine sand into the plaster for the sand effect. The column and stones are from the Disney 7" Indiana Jones set and the International Rescue logo came with the figure I removed it from the packaging cut it out then glued it in place. To simulate the hoverbike hovering I used the metal rods that held the plastic wheels inplace and drilled holes in the base and hoverbike and then attached them to the base with superglue and then attached the bike. |

THUNDERBIRD 2 - VIRGIL TRACY with hoverbike 4 inch |
I started watching the Thnuderbirds on DVD again and thought that it would be a cool idea to make some dio's, so I looked around the net and on ebay and found these cool Thunderbird Microman Figures from TAKARA. I ordered a few and started work straight away once I got them, with the first dio I just wanted something nice and simple to show of the figure and hoverbike. Once I got the look and feel of the dio I painted and weathered everything using Vallejo, GW paints and pastels. When I was working on this dio I wanted the original feel of TB's in the way the scenery looked realistic and the characters acted real but had that puppet feel to them. |

Virgil and Hoverbike - Are from TAKARA's Microman series the only thing I changed was the hands as I think they were to small. I swapped the hands for some 6" hands from the Angel action figures. I also repainted the head, boots and sash re- adjusted the sash to fit better. |
The only thing that I didn't like about this figure was the sash as I couldn't remove the International Rescue logo as it is to low but other then that it's a great figure. The hoverbike came with the figure and I just removed the wheels that make it roll. I decided to keep the figure articulated so I could put him in different poses when I get bored with the sitting pose his in now. |
Base - I picked up the base from the craft section at my local hardware shop, I used putty for the actual ground build up and then used Woodland Scenics railway grass and shrubs. The International Rescue logo came with the figure Iremoved it from the packaging cut it out then glued it in place. To simulate the hoverbike hovering I used the metal rods that held the plastic wheels inplace and drilled holes in the base and hoverbike and then attached them to the base with superglue and then attached the bike. |

M.A.R.U (Mobile Armoured Recon Units) 3-3/4 inch |
In the year 2015 the earths fresh water is almost depleted except for one continent which is Australia, the situation has became that severe the Australian Military forces have decided that small recon units be made to keep check on all water supplies within the country. These small two men recon units worked extremely well in keeping the water supplies from being stolen but it came at a cost of lives as well, out of the 1500 recon units that started off only 500 remained. |
The Military approached the government regarding the situation and both parties decided that it would be in everyones best interest to keep the recon units looking after major dams in each state. The units were split up and sent to there respective postings on the 12th August 2015 where all went well until 01 February 2016 when a major attack in the state of New South Wales at the Warragamba dam complex was attacked and 20% of the water was stolen by unkown forces. |
Once the attack had finished only five men survived, so on March 17th 2016 The Military decided to bring into action project M.A.R.U (Mobile Armoured Recon Units) these units would be a two party unit consisting of one Robotic M.A.R.U unit and one Commtech soldier. |
These Commtech soldiers are extremely well trained in all types of combat situations but would leave a lot of the fighting up to the M.A.R.U units . They would also keep the M.A.R.U units maintained and in good condition and they contol the units by advanced radio waves and a control device that is straped to the left wrist. The M.A.R.U units would do 90% of the fighting as they are equipped with small anti personal missles and a new experimental plasma rifle, the M.A.R.A units are under control of the commtech soldiers but if the soldier is killed the units can think for themselves for a preiod of 36 hour until a new commtech soldier is attached. |
The unit you see here is from the the New South Wales Recon unit Charlie Company three section they are on a patrol in sector 01 GRID 07 and as you can see the commtech soldier takes cover behind a tree and the M.A.R.U unit and is looking at his control device so he can give orders. |
RECIPE |
Commtech soldier - The soldier is made up of Hasbro figures and the following is legs and gloves are rebel soldier, body is Indiana Jones German soldier and TLC Henry Jones head. the back pack is a Jump Trooper and the mouth piece is from Tatooine Solo, and the rifle is from an older rebel soldier. |
M.A.R.U unit - The unit is a combination of Mongoose games Starship Troopers APE walker and GW's Sentinel walker the following is legs, arms and torso are APE parts and the muzzle, missle launcher mid torso and battery pack are GW's Sentinal parts. The large lens is a piece of 1/6 scale binocular and the smaller lenses are from GW's Marine scout trooper set. |
Base - The base is from a two doller shop and then had plaster of paris added, while the plaster was setting I placed two branchs which are from my back garden into the plaster and let dry. Once dry fine sand and kitty litter was added and static grass followed that, when all was dry I painted and weathered the grass and dirt using Vallejo paints and pastels, the bushs are from woodland scenics and the larger bushes are fish tank plants which I got from the local pet shop. |

TERMINATOR INFILTRATOR 6 inch |
When I completed the 3-3/4" Terminator dio I decided to pick up a 6" version T-800 and do him with damaged flesh. I also wanted to add real cloth to him to see how it would turn out and I was more then happy with the results. The Terminator had to have a little extra work done to it namely extra details on the body which was done by using a scribing tool and scribing extra lines into the body. |
When the figure was completed it was painted using Vallejo, GW paints and the base was painted using Vallejo paints and then Pastels were used to weather the base. |
RECIPE |
Terminator - The left side of the figure is a Playmates 6" figure all in all not a bad figure for a play toy it just needed some extra detail added to the endoskeleton as mentioned above. The right side of the figure was a Marvel Punisher body I had to completely cut both figures in half and combine them by cut and sanding to get the desired fit. |
The right arm is again the Marvel Punishers arm and has been cut and modified to fit the Playmates Terminator parts. The right side of the head is a marvels Magento head and was cut in half and the same for the terminator head, once all parts were glued together I used putty to add flesh, hair and damaged flesh. |
For the pants I used an old pair of 1/6 scale pants cut down to size sewed them up and glued them into place, the torn shirt was what was left over from the 1/6 pants. The Jacket was a Marvels Wolverine jacket and was ripped apart and glued inplace, the pistol/holster and machine gun are both from the Marvels Punisher figure. |
Base - The base is built up using foam core the wall is some foam I had lying around and the metal support struts are pieces of wire twisted together and placed into position. The drum is from a Disney Indy figure and was cut in half and the pipes are pieces of old computer cable cut and the inside wires stripped and exposed, the metal beam is plasti rod. |

ROBOT WARS C-A-R'S (Combat-Assault-Robots) 3-3/4 inch |
In the year 2015AD the earths nations almost destroyed themselves with World War 3 that lastest 11 years even thou no nuclear weapons were dropped mankind was almost destroyed. So in 2026AD the reminents of the old goverments decided that it was time to form two counciling bodies called BLUE nad RED sectors. |
In 2032AD BLUE and RED becoming bored with the peaceful exsistents so in 2036AD they started making ROBOTS called C-A-R'S (Combat-Assault-Robots) for War Games and these War Games would last for 6 months at a time and at the end of that time a winner would be decided on captured facilities, loses etc. The winner would be given an extra 20% of resources until the next War Games. |
The War Games lastest for 10 years and both sections were very happy unitl in 2046AD the C-A-R'S became self aware of what was going on and what was happening to them and they began to fight back against their makers. This revolt only lastest 5 months and all of Mankind was wiped clean from the face of the earth, Now that the humans were all gone the C-A-R'S exsisted peacefully until 2056AD when without warning the BLUE sector started attacking the RED sector. |
100 years on (2156AD) the battle against RED C-A-R'S and BLUE C-A-R'S continues for domination and resources, some C-A-R'S say that the humans programmed there initial chips so that there could be no peace others say that it is instict to fight BUT NO-ONE WILL NEVER KNOW. |

TERMINATOR 3-3/4 inch |
I picked up a few of the new Playmates 3-3/4" Salvation figures the other day solely to do some custom with them. I wanted to do a battle damaged Infiltrator Terminator and normal one with a larger then normal gun and the result is what you see in the pictures. The base and figures again as always have been painted with Vallejo, GW paints and Pastels which I'm finding to be great for using with models/dio's. |
RECIPE |
Normal Terminator - The endoskeleton Termie has been modified buy cutting and repositioning his forearms, head and torso section and he has been given a IG-88 rifle. |
Damaged Terminator - The damaged Termie has been heavily by cutting itand also a Build and Brawl figure. Once I got the desired parts cut to how I wanted them I glued them together, then used the upper leg section of an old SW figure and the right lower leg of a Indiana jones figure and ince all parts were glued together all the joints were puttied up. |
Base - The base is a stand from a 12" figure I had lying around, it has been built up using plaster of paris and then let to semi dry. While the plaster is still soft I inserted varies items from the bits box to simulate destroyed buildings and scattered debri I thenn covered it with kitty litter, fine sand and broken pieces of small 1/35th scale bricks. |
I painted the base so it looks charred and the objects have a really rusty look to them, this is where the pastels came into effect they are perfect for realistic weathering. |

WARHAMMER MINOTAUR STANDARD BEARER 4.5 inch |
I was looking thru TRU a few weeks ago and picked up a few of the Narnia Prince Caspian figures as they were going cheap. I was going to make a Minotaur Lord but decided to make a Warhammer Standard Bearer with this figure as it just loked the part. Everything was painted and drybrushed with Games Workshop paunts and pastels. |
RECIPE |
Minotaur - As mentioned above the figure is from the Prince Caspian range, the figure was basically left as is except for the left horn which was cut to simulate battle damage. A nose ring was added using a small O-ring and leather skirts were added, the axe has been shortened and the top blade removed. |
Standard - The poles are made from balsa wood with model ship rope used to tie both sections together, the chains and O-rings are from a $2 shop and the skulls are from Hasbro's Indiana Jones Pitfall playset. The flag is from a old piece of material I had lying around my 4 yr old daughter helped me with the drawings it's a little to one side but I didn't have the heart to change it so I left it as is. |
Base - The base is a stand from a figure I had in the cupboard and plaster was used for the base then kitty litter and fine snad was added. It was then painted and static grass and shrubs were used. |

40K IMPERIAL CATACHAN WITH FLAMER 12 inch |
I wanted to to do something different from the usual Indiana Jones and Star Wars diorama's and figure's, So when OneSixthWarriors said they were having a Sci-Fi competition I started looking for something new to do. I started going thru all my magazines and came across the Games Workshop Catachan Codex and new right there and then that I was going to build a Catachan Soldier. |
When the figure, equipment were ready and the base was built I painted everything using Vallejo and Games Workshop Paints and used drybrushing and Pastels for the weathering. |
RECIPE |
Body & clothing - The body I picked up of ebay I don't know which company made it but I do recall it being a terrorist figure. The boots I've had in the bits box for ages and the trousers are from Sideshows Rebel Troopers, the t-shirt is from a WW2 Aussie digger figure and the scarf and bandana are pieces of material. |
Equipment - The Fuel tanks are German WW2 gas canisters and Stick Grenades with the tubing coming from other toy lines. The Flame Thrower is from a Final Fantasy figure and has been heavily modified using parts from other weapons ranging from WW2 to modern day parts. All the other pieces on the figure are from different figures which have been lying in my bits box. |
Base - The base is foamcore with a piece of thick cardboard for strength, it has then had plaster of paris with fine sand added to it. the grass is static grass which is used for model railways, the broken column is from a 7 inch Indy figure set and the plants are plastic which I got from the local pet shop. |
