Indiana Jones & The Egyptian Tomb

I had a Hasbro ToD figure left over from some customs I did a while ago and decide to just make a nice simple dio showing of the figure, The pics show Indy coming down into an egyptian tomb to look for artifacts and after spotting some nasty slithering snakes he pulls out his whip ready to attacking thing that comes near him. The figure, artifacts, snakes and base were painted and weathered using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints.

RECIPE

1: Figure - the figures is a combination of the Tod Indy which is the whole body except the arms and jacket which is from the Indy on horse figure.

2: Base - The base is a 1/6 figure stand, I used the column and rock from the Disney 7" Indy sets and the skulls and snakes are from the pit fall Indy sets, the artifacts are from the crates that you get with the figures. The steps are made from foam and once laid inplace plaster was used to cover the ground and then sand was used to cover the plaster.

Indiana Jones & The Raiders of the Lost Ark  (Map Room Descent)

I had a few of the Hasbro Raider figures left over so I decided to make a scene from ROTLA when Sallah is helping Indy down into the Map Room. This is not a movie exact dio as I could'nt find and wall paintings or drawings of the Map Room, once everything was made I painted and drybrushed using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints

RECIPE

1: Figures - Both figures are from Hasbro, Sallah has been positioned and all the joints superglued, Indy has been made from various other figures which are.

Legs & head - are from the Indy that comes with the Ark.
Body - the body is from the Cairo swordsman so is the lower part of the robes,
Arms - are from the Sallah
Once I got the posture I wanted Indy was pinned and superglued together and both he and Sallah were apited before adding them to the base.

2: Base - The base is made from balsa wood, foam and cardboard, once I got the height I wanted I cut a hole thru the foam and then used sculpty clay to make the stone entrance. The fallen debri on the floor is old pieces of foam covered in fine sand and plaster.

The Map Room walls are pictures I got of the internet and then gled them to the back of the base and sanded them once it all dried. I decided to give the walls the a really old feel to them and have section of it either fading or crumbling, I did this by adding plaster and fine sand to some areas and the drybrushed over these areas.
The wooden wall embankment is made from balsa wood and painted and the shovel is from the Sallah figure. The rope is fine leather that I got from the material shop. The top of the base where Salah is was covered in plaster and fine sand and was painted and drynrushed to the desired look.

Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom (You Betrayed Shiva)

When Hasbro released the Temple of Doom figures it was a very easy choice for me to make this dio, It was the prfect way to display these fantastic looking figures. As always when the figures and dio were built I used Vallejo and Games Workshop paints.

When I started this project I didn't want to just have nothing at the bottom of the cliff, So with this in mind a decided to have a much smaller version of the crocs having a feast at the bottom.

RECIPE

1: Figures - Indy and Mola Ram are both from Hasbro, they were put into the postures I liked then the joints were superglued to stop movement and then they were painted.

2: Base - The base is made from balsa wood and cardboard, the stone cliff face I got from the local hobby shop, it's 1/72 scale it comes in sheets of about 20cm x 15cm and was a light grey colour. I painted it various browns and sands to get the desired look.

The wooden/rope bridge is made from balsa wood and model sail boat rope, Once all the rope was added and tied to the balsa foot holds it was then covered in woodglue and then let dry. Once dry it was painted dark browns and light browns to get the effect you see.

The base were the crocs are is made using fine sand and kitty litter for the larger rocks and the crocs are pieces of balso wood carved and sanded to the desired shape. It was then painted and woodland scenics Realistic water added for the river.

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade (Fleeing the Coronado)

I watched The Last Crusade the other night and when the scene came on when Indy swings off the Coronado and ends up in the drink I new that I had to give this scene a go. The scene isn't 100% accurate but I was extremely happy with the way it turned out especially never doing an ocean diorama before.

RECIPE

1: Figure, Cross of Coronado & Life saver - The indy figure is from Hasbro it's the ROTLA series 1 figure the one with the huge holster. I cut him off at the waist and put him in the pose I wanted and then puttied him up using Games Workshops Greenstuff.

The life preserver is from a babies rattle I cut off the end of the rattle and cut out the inner section and then glued the two ends together.  I then added string around the edges using thin string, the writing is from some transfers which you rub on with a pencil.     The Cross of Coronado is from Hasbro's Young Indy, I just cut it off and placed in Indy's hand and added a small chain from the bits box. The white hat is from a Indy figure which I just cut out a small section on the front left hand side and then painted it white.

2: The CORONADO - is made from cardboard cut to the desired shaped and glued togther using superglue, the holes in the Stern section were traced drawn on then cut out. I decided to give the stern a few holes made by explosions I did this by just cutting a cross into the cardboard and pulling the cardboard forward.

The flames are from an old Human Torch figure which I've had lying around and the smoke is some fake Halloween spiderwebs, I sprayed them slightly and then pulled them apart and glued inplace using PVA glue. The writing was done by writing on the hull with a pencil then using the pencil as a guide painted over that.

3: Water - The water is made from plaster of paris, I let it dry a little and then used a large hard bristle brush to simulate the bubbling affect around the hull. I then used a spoon to simulate waves, I did this by putting the teaspoon into water then pushing into the drying plaster and gave it a slight push to get the affect I wanted.

I then painted the water using a dark green and let it dry then using a watered down two part mix of dark green and light green gave the whole base a wash of this mixture. Once the paint dried I used Matt white and dry brushed the bubbling area's and the waves.

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade  (Young Indy)

I really loved The Last Crusade so when Hasbro released these figures I knew staright away that I had to start doing small vignettes of these figures. The sculpting and likeness of this figure is great you can actually see Young River Phoenix in the sculpt, Once the figure and base were done they both were painted using Reaper, Vallejo and Games Workshops paints.

RECIPE

1: The Young Indy figure is from Hasbro I put him in the pose I wanted and sculpted the joints using Games Workshop Green stuff. The Cross is also from the figure it was attached to the belt I simply cut it off and placed it in his hand, I added a small chain from my bits box.

2: The base is from Games Workshop I added balsa wood and scribed the floor boards using a pair of tweezers and the Hay is from woodland scenics.

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade (Indy on Horse Back)

When I saw the indy w/horse I knew straight away that I wanted to do a diorama from ROTLA but wanted to see how the horse would look in a diorama. So with that in mind I decided to do this small vignette(diorama) with it to see how it would turn out before doing the bigger diorama I want to do.

And I couldn't think of anything better then doing a scene from TLC and also seeing Gentle Giants statue I knew that I would create this scene as I'm never going to buy there's as I knew I could have one on a smaller scale to save room.

I was very pleased with the way it turned out Hasbro has done a brillant job recreating a horse in 1/18 scale and with a little work a good horse became an excellent horse. Once I was happy with the way the horse and indy looked I sculpted both figures and painted them using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints.

RECIPE

1: The Indy figure and Horse are from Hasbro's Deluxe Indy w/hosre playset, they have both been superglued into postion and the gaps/joints puttied using Games Workshop Green Stuff.

2: All the horses straps are pieces of leather cut to size and glued inplace the buckles are either from Hasbro's horse cut and sanded or hand made using small wire.

The blanket is cloth cut to size and hand painted. The bedroll is again cloth wrapped up and glued inplace with small pieces of leather as straps. The rifle is from an old figure I had cut to size wrapped in cloth and glued under the blanket.

3: The base is from a $2 shop, the scenery is fine sand and kitty litter mixed together and glued inplace then once dry given numeruos washs to get the desired colour.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (The Map Room)

When the new Indy Toy came out I was hoping that they were as good as the SW toy line was so I could do some diorama's with them and I have to say that I wasn't dissapointed. So to start of the 3-3/4" dio's I thought that the Map Room was a good start to this collection.

RECIPE

1: The figure is from Hasbro's Deluxe Indy in disguise with ark set, the only things I changed on this figure were the wrap around and the extra head piece that hangs down which is pieces of pleatherc ut to size and glued in place. The robes were resized to give a snug fit and then given a wash of diluted cloth glue to harden it.

The staff of Ra is a piece of plasti-rod cut to size and the medallion I got of the net it was resized and the printed off and glued to the top of the staff.

2: Base is two small bases glued together and then glued down onto some cardboard and sanded, Then the main base was cut from some old scrap marine foam and the buildings were also from some scrap marine foam. Fine sand was used to cover the base and the figure and base were painted using vallejo and Reaper paints.
