Raiders of the Lost Ark (Tanis Map Room)  1/6

When Sideshow made the Map Room dio I thought to myself how cool it would be to have a larger version of it especially with the buildings and when a mate from over at the Sideshow Freaks forums by the name of IndianaPaul decided that he was going to make all the buildings and cast them I knew I had to get hold of a set.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The clothing for is a mix of Sideshow and Hottoys, the boots are from Hasbro and the staff of Ra is from Hottoys. The body is a TTL V2 and the head is from Sideshow toys. The figure was painted and weathered using Vallejo and GW paints and pastels.

2: Base - The base I picked up from the local hardware store, the sand is a mixture of fine river sand, plaster of paris and PVA/Woodglue. The tape measure is just some A4 size paper cut to size and measuring lines added, the barrier around the last building is made from toothpicks and red cotton wool.

All the buildings as mentioned before are made and casted from IndianaPaul over at the Sideshow Freaks Forums and he did one hell of a job making these buildings the details are amazing to say least. The buildings were painted and weathered before putting them onto the base and as usual the base/buildings were painted using Vallejo paints and pastels.

Indiana Jones Dio/Display Crate  1/6

I have always wanted to something like this to show of my figures. I have a double sided disply storage creat in mind but wanted to do a single one to get a feel for it first and now that this one in complete and I really like the way it turned out the double sided one is now in the works.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - Everything on indy is from Sideshow except the Hat which is from Hero Heads and the shoes are from Hasbro's Indy.  The whip has been made using the hand grip from Sideshow bendable whip with leather braiding which I got from the local craft store, the torch is made using sticks again from the local craft store with string wrapped around it.
1: The Crate/Display - The crate is a bottle holder which is used to transport the bottle so it doesn't get damaged. I used balsa wood and glued it to the holder then scribed the lines into to simulate the individual boards and the garage cut to size and then pushed into place and superglued.

The interior was built up using high density foam then carved to the desired look and then a mix of plaster of paris, woddglue/PVA and fine sand was mixed together and was then applied to the foam. The moss I picked up fro the laocal florist and the vines/roots are from some old small palm plants that died after the cyclone we had.

Once both the figure and dio/display was completed I painted and weathered them using Vallejo, Games Workshop paints and weathered with chalk pastels.

German Mechanic - Raiders of the Lost Ark  1/6

Next up for my Raiders Collection is the iconic German Mechanic. Alot of cutsomizers have done this guy either in 3-3/4" or 12" scale I even did him in 7" scale years ago and with all the customs of him everyone even myself have done him without his shirt on as that is the way we all remember him.

I decided to go for a different approach and do him with his shirt and cap on as his coming out of the hut and he see's Indy near the flying wing. As with all my figure and dios once I got the look and feel I wanted I used Vallejo and GW paints to paint him and Vallejp and pastels for the weathering.

RECIPE

1: German Mechanic - The top half of the body is a 12" Aggression Wrestling figure which has had it's forearms, chest and upper neck heavily sanded to get the shirt to fit. I used GW greenstuff to add some thickness to the neck to get the head to sit correctly.

The chest and stomach has had greenstuff added also to get rid off any extra creases which happened after the sanding. The head is from a 12" Jesse Ventura figure which has had the paint stripped off and then repainted.  The lower body is from a Dragon figure as the wrestling legs were just way to huge to put ons and also I needed to give him some height which the wrestling legs didn't have.

The pants are from the Sideshow German Indy, the boots/garters, belt and shirt are from Dragon and the cap is from Soldier Story.

2: Generic Base - This base is what I'll be using for all my Indy figures that need a desert base until I get all my figures done then I'll be making bases for them.

German Soldier - Raiders of the Lost Ark  1/6

This time round for my Raiders Collection is a German Soldier,  I really enjoyed about making this figure as I didn't have to be historically correct when it came to the uniform. The movie version soldiers were a mix match of uniforms and and equipement for example the figure you see here has KAR 98 ammo pouches and the weapon is a MP40 machine gun.

Once the figure was done he was painted using Vallejo and GW paints and weatherd using Vallejo and pastels.

RECIPE

1: German Soldier - The body is a TTL-V3 as are the hands, the head is from an old BBI figure. the webbing pouches and pants are from Sideshow's German Indy, the boots, shirt, MP40 and Bread bag are from Dragon and the cap is from Soldier Story.

2: Generic Base - This base is what I'll be using for all my Indy figures that need a desert base until I get all my figures done then I'll be making bases for them. The base is a Sideshow Indy figure base and has plaster and putty fot the ground work.

Once the plaster and putty had dried I used washed river sand and to cover the base, once the sand had dried I used Vallejo paints to paint and weather the sand.

Jock and Reggie - Raiders of the Lost Ark  1/6

Another character to add to my Raiders Collection and this time it's Jock the pilot with his pet snake Reggie. Jock was the pilot that flew Indy out of the Amazon Jungle after being chased by the Hovito Warriors.

RECIPE

1: Jock - The body is a TTL-V3 as are the hands, the head is from Dragon. The pants are from the Sideshow Indy figure, the shoes and shirt are from Dragon the shirt has had it's sleeves cut and then glued and folded to a short sleeve version. I originally had him with bare feet and his pants rolled up but didn't like the look so went with him wearing boots which I think he would have when he first flew indy in.

I don't know if Jock actually had a name tag but in those days companies usually had them on the shirts. The name tag is paper cut to size with a black border added,  the writing was done by using the dry transfers that you use a pencil to rub off onto whatever you are using.

The AIR PIRATES logo was done by using a plastic lettering stencil and firstly using pencil and then painting over that with Matt Black. I couldn't find a dark blue baseball cap so I used a black one, sorry can't remember what company I got it from, the NY logo was again done by using a pencil and the painting over that if Matt White.

The t-shirt is actually a Aussie WW2 singlet which was soaked in bleached and then given a drybrush of Matt White. Reggie is a rubber snake I got from a two dollar shop and he was repainted.  After I got the items all together they were painted with Vallejo and GW paints and slightly weathered using pastels.

2: Generic Base - This base is the same one I've been using for a lot of the new Indiana Jones characters. The stand and has plaster of Paris and sculpty clay added for the ground work, the soil is mulched up dirt/bark from the garden and the plants are from the local pet shop.

Barranca - Raiders of the Lost Ark  1/6

Well yet another character to add to my Raiders Collection this time the double crosser Barranca who tries to shoot Indy and then ends up being killed by the Hovito's by being killed with poison darts.

RECIPE

1: Barranca - The body is a TTL-V3 as are the hands, the head and shorts are from BBI the shorts were actually trousers from a WW2 Aussie digger figure and have been cut to shorts and the hair was added by using GW greenstuff.

I tried to find the same head that I used on my Monkey Man as both characters were played by Vic Tablian but with no luck so the BBI head was the closet likeness I could find to my Monkey Man custom.

The hat, singlet, Revolver, belt and holster are from Sideshow, the hat is from Belloq and has been put into boiling hot water to get the desired look and the hat band is cloth painted and then cut.  The torn singlet is from the Bespin Luke and the belt and holster are from a Indy figure.  I couldn't get my hands on the same type of firearm Barranca used in the movie so I used a KOTCS Revolver.

The socks, boots and jacket are from Dragon, the jacket was soaked in diluted bleech and then it was given a wash of khaki and desert yellow to get the desired colour. The socks are from a turtle neck sweater, I just cut the arms off at a deisred length and folded them up.

2: Base - The base is a Indiana Jones stand has plaster of Paris and sculpty clay added for the ground work, the soil is mulched up dirt/bark from the garden and the plants are from the local pet shop.

Indiana Jones  1/6

Another Indy figure to add to my Raiders collection, I really love the head sculpt on this figure it's the best likeness of Ford I've seen.  I have more figures to add to the Raider series and I will post them as soon as there done,  once I was happy with the overall look and feel of the figure and base I used Vallejo, Reaper, GW paints and pastels to paint and weather the entire thing.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The body is a TTL-V3 as are the hands,  the head and Fedora is a shruken down PF Indy head and is an awesome likeness of Ford.  All the clothing and revolver are from Sideshow's Indy figure,  The whip has the Sideshow Indy bendable whip handle but the whip itself it leather coil which I got from the local craft shop.

The gloves are from a Soldier Story WW2 parachute figure and the torch has been made from decrotive sticks that I got dheap from a home ware shop.

2: Base - The base is a Indiana Jones stand has plaster of Paris and sculpty clay added for the ground work, the soil is mulched up dirt/bark from the garden and the plants are from the local pet shop.
