Monkey Man  Raiders of the lost Ark 1/6

Adding to my already growing Raider of the lost Ark figures I have added Monkey Man and his little sidekick to the collection. I have always been surprised that no-one has ever made a 1/6 version of him that I know of.

I decided to mix this figure with both the movie version and Hasbro 3-3/4 figure to get the desired look you see now.

RECIPE

1: Monkey Man - The head is from Dragon's Timeline figures I think it was Auret, I added a little extra hair and goatee to the head. The robes inner and outer are from D-Art Studios http://www.d-artstudios.com/index.htm and the body and hands are both from a TLL v3. The eye patch is made from left over leather and you can't see it that well but he also has the scaring as well.

The turbin and scarf are pieces of material from the material bin cut and dyed to the desired colours, The pants are from my 1/6 bin and again dyed to the desired colour. The sandels are made from the inner soles that come with the Dragon shoes and the starp is some left over leather.

The Monkey is from Ebay and was painted to try and get the look of the little guy and the vest is tissue paper glued inplace and then painted.

Indiana Jones in Desert Disguise 1/6

Once I did the Sallah figure it was only time before I did another Map Room Indy to go with him.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The head is from Sideshow and the body is a Soldier Story body and the hands are from a TTL v3 figure. The robe is the same as Sallah's and was cut down the middleto give it the wrap around affect.

The turbin and sash are from the cloth bin and dyed white, he is wearing the Sideshow pants and shirt that and the boots are from the 12" talking Indy figure from Hasbro.

The staff is just some plasti rod cut to size and then sanded so the paint would adhere much better, the medallion is from the Medicom Indiana Jones figure and the brass connection that holds the medallion in place is from a 1/35 shell. The bag is from DID with the Sideshow strap added and so is the small circular piece that is on the side of the bag.

2: Base -Is the one that I used for Sallah and you can see how I made it http://www.hemblecreations.com/tutorials.htm

Sallah - Raiders of the Lost Ark 1/6 with Map Room Entrance

I have always wanted to do a Sallah figure and finally got a chance when D-Art Studios and YOUR OWN HEAD.net made the clothing a head sculpt.

RECIPE

1: Sallah - Sallah's head is from YOUR OWN HEAD.net http://www.yourownhead.net  and the outfit is from D-Art Studios http://www.d-artstudios.com/index.htm  . The shoes are from the parts box and are from Dragon and the body is a TTL version 3 body.

The head actually has a neck piece but I cut and drilled it down to fit the TTL body neck. The shovel was a Hasbro entrenching tool I just cut the handle off and replced it with a piece of thin dowel, the torch is pieces of this sticks cut to size and glued and tied in place.

2: Base -I have done a tutorial for the base so head over to the tutoruial section to see how I made it http://www.hemblecreations.com/tutorials.htm

Satipo - Raiders of the Lost Ark 1/6

I had this figure partially done and decided to complete him while having small breaks from other work that I am doing and after getting inspired by all the execellent Indy customs over at the sideshow Indiana jones forum section.

Satipo for those that don't him is the poor guy that gets impaled by spikes after he takes the idol from Indy and does the runner, but as we know he doesn't get to far and Indy takes the idol back.

RECIPE

1: Satipo - The head is from the 12" Doc Ock figure and the body and hands are from Soldier Story, the shoes, trousers and belt and holster are from Sideshow ROTLA Indy. The jacket (WW2) and singlet (Modern) are from Dragon, I used model knife and heavy grade sandpaper to give the jacket a really worn feel and did the same to the pants but only minor worn feel.

2: Basket and Equipment - I got frustrated trying to find a cane basket so I made my own it's not movie accurate but I think it came out really well. I used a toilet roll and cut to size and then used packing string (the white type), I  wrapped it around the roll and then used PVA/woodglue to keep it inplace.

The carry brace was made from balsa wood and the shoulder straps are from my 1/6 bits box, the inner lining of the basket was done using left over material and glued inplace. Some of the utensils are from some Geman WW2 food canisters and wattle bottle, the cup is from a WW2 figure and the pan or skillet is made from a Games Workshop paint lid and plasti card.

The bed roll is again left over material and tied up using model Ship sailing robe. The torches are made using handles from two German intrenching tools, the torch section themselves are from old plastic model knife containers that you get the spare blades in and the interior of the torches are pieces of plasticard and tissue paper.

3: Base - The base is a Indiana Jones stand and has plater of Pris and sculpty clay added for the ground work, the soil is mulched up dirt/bark from the garden and the plants are from the local pet shop. Once I was happy with the overall look and feel I used Vallejo, Reaper, GW paints and chalk pastels to paint and weather the entire thing.

Indiana Jones with Talking Base 1/6

Video Clip

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The whole figure except the fedora is from Sideshow Toys  and the hat is from The frontline custom head.  I wanted to have a little fun with this so I added the Grail Cup, Coronado Cross which are from the Hasbro 3-3/4" figures the gold idol is from Sideshow Toys and the Sankara Stone is also from The frontline custom head .

2: Base - The base is frame is made up of balsa wood and foam core sheets. Once I got the desired look I used thin sheets of foam to cover the base and once dry I used superglue to dissovle the foam to give it a weatherd look.

When the base was ready I drilled holes in the top for the speakers and also the switch, I then covered the whole base in a two part mix of plaster of paris and woodglue. When the base dried I pulled apart the Hasbro 12" Talking Indy figure and attached the battery unit, speaker and switch the bottom of the base.

The snakes are are from a $2 shop and repainted them the bushes are from Woodland Scenics and the Indy logo is from the internet and has been printed off and cut out.

Indiana Jones and the Shrine of the Sea Devil 1/6

Inspiration

I was looking thru the Indiana Jones Magazines the other day and came across a pic of Indy in a deep sea divers suit and was intrigued by the picture.  After doing some more searching I came across Indiana Jones and the Shrine of the Sea Devil comics and saw that Indy used a deep sea suit, After seeing the pictures I  decided that I would give this a go as it is such a different look for Indy.

Once I put the whole figure and base to together to see what it would like I pulled everything apart and painted and weatherd it using Vallejo, Games Workshop paints and pastels.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - Indy's body and head are from Sideshow Toys, the gloves are from a Dragon the divers helmet,  The diving suit,  shoulder plate and metal souls and weight blocks are from the old GI JOE figures.  The lead weight blocks are actually plastic I just repainted them to look like lead,  The harness is made of leather and 1/6 scale buckles.

The knife and sheath are from Dragon and the boots souls are real lead weights from the GI Goe figure and the ankle braces are made from left over material and 1/6 scale buckles. The diving helmet was missing the handle so I used some 1/72 scale pieces from the bits box to make one,  The rope is from also from the bits box.

2: Base - The base is from the hardware shop from the craft section and the ships decking was done by using balsa wood and then I scribed the blank sections into it.  The crate was made from scraps of balsa wood which I got from my scrap box and was built I scribed panels into it.

Indiana Jones My PF version 1/6

When the 1/4 Premium Format indy came out from Sideshow Toys I always wanted to make something similar in 1/6 but never could find the perfect Indy Head sculpt with that cocky Indy smile. Then the other week I friend on the Sideshow forums Paul Carson was selling the perfect head sculpt of Indy I've ever seen and he even had that cocky smirk.

So I ordered myself a Head sculpt and once I received it got to work on making my own 1/6 PF Indy.  Instead of the pedestal that comes with the 1/4 PF figure I wanted to have a jungle scene instead as I really think it suits the figure very well.  When I was happy with the figures pose it was painted and weathered using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints and pastels.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The clothing, whip, idol and body are from Sideshow toys,  the head sculpt is from Paul Carson from Sideshow Forums. The hands are from an old AMT Luke Skywalker 1/6 figure kit and the hat is from The frontline custom head .

2: Base - The base is from the Sideshow Toys Indiana Jones figure. The figure was superglued and screwed inplace at the feet and then plaster was used to cover the base and left to dry.

When the plaster had dried I painted it dark brown and then added the ground work which a got from the back yard from the garden, the plants are plastic fishtank plants that I got from the local pet shop.

Concept Toht - Raiders of the Lost Ark  1/6

Ron Cobb's Concept Toht Art Work

I've been wanting to do this concept figure that Ron Cobb had done for a long time, I was going to do in 3-3/4" size but a friend of mine Glorbes had already did it http://glorbes.blogspot.com/2009/01/toht-ron-cobb-concept.htmt   and it's a great figure. So since I have been doing alot of 1/6 scale Indy figures it was only natural that I would do him in this scale.

RECIPE

1: Concept Toht - The body, left glove, glasses, uniform, boots and hat are all from Dragon, the uniform was dyed black and the hat was also repainted black and detailed with flat white and silver.  The head is Toht from Sideshow Toys I added a bionic eye and ear by using some old 40K GW parts I had in the bits box.

As for the bionic arm I used parts from some Hasbro AOTC droids and and a part from a 3-3/4" moisture vaporator and pieces of wire which were in my bits box,  The straps that hold the arm onto the body are strips of leather cut to size then attached.

2: Base - The base is very simple as I didn't want anything to detailed to distract from the figure itself,  It was made from an old DVD base which I covered with plasti card and cardboard and then gave it a few sprays of Matt Black.

Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Blues  1/6

I finished this figure/dio about 3 weeks ago and didn't want to show it until I had a small saxaphone to go,  I couldn't find one so I decided that I would show the pics without it.  And while the snow blizzard is happening Indiana sits back and gets comfortable and tells Grey Cloud the story of when he was a waiter at COLOSIMO's in Chicago and he's love for the blues.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - Everything is the Sideshow Indy except the bag which is the Relic Hunter's, the shoes are the Hasbro's Indy and the hands are the Medicom Indy. The jumper is from an old suit I had in the parts box and the scarf was from a WW2 German figure.

Indy's hair and beard were sculpted using Games Workshops Green stuff.

2: Base - The base is made foam core sheest glued together and the balsa wood was super glued on top for strength, once dry I scribed floor boards by using a knife then some tweezers. The rocking chair and the smaller chair are both made from balsa wood as well.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull  1/6

I was stoked when I picked up the Medicom Indy really cheap but when I received it and opened it up I was a little dissapointed in the details and some of the equipment. I set about adding different pieces from Sideshows Indy and repainting and weathering the figure/equipement using Vallejo, Reaper miniature paints and pastels to add extra weathering.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The jacket, bag, whip, revolver and hands are from the Sideshow Indy and the rest are the Medicom figure. The reason I replaced certain items is that they were either incorrect or not the right size, the head sculpt would have to be the best thing about this figure and with a repaint it looks spoton to an old Ford.

I added an extra little girth by using left over material and wrapped it around the belly and then used tape to keep it in place, I haven't done a base as I'm still awaiting for materials to arrive but once it does he will look good on the base which will be the cemetery scene.

Indiana Jones DVD/PS2 Holder  1/6

This was a really simple project to do, I wanted to keep my indy DVD's and PS2 on the shelf with the rest of my Indy stuff but wanted to keep them universal like the rest of my 1/6 customs.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The whole figure is the Indiana Jones figure from Sideshow toys and has been painted and weathered using Reaper, and Vallejo paints and weathered using pastels.

2: Base - The base is made from a thick piece of plastic and foam core with a balsa wood frame work. The foam core was cut to size and then the crate was place on top and the I traced around it with a pencil and then cut out the area the crate was. I then glued everything togther and once dry I then scribed lines into the foam core and then a two part mix of plaster and PVA glue was mixed together and brushed on using a wide brush.

Once the plaster dried the base was painted using Vallejo paints and weathered using pastels. The crate was made by finding a good size cardboard box and then balsa wood was used to cover the box, once everything was done the box was painted and drybrushed using vallejo paints and weathered using pastels. the stenciling was printed off then I cut out the black printed areas and then attached to the crate and spray black paint was used to get the stencilling on the crate.

Zombie Jones  1/6

This custom was done for a few Halloween comps coming up, I've never done a zombie custom before and was very happy with the way it turned out. And I know alot of you are thinking you wrecked a perfectly good Sideshow Indy and yes you are alll correct LOL.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The whole figure is the Indiana Jones figure from Sideshow toys except the left hand which is from another Sideshow figure, I used an old skeleton figure to replace the three fingers from the left hand, the lower leg and jaw bone. I had to cut and drill out the leg, fingers and facial area to add the bones and then used putty to simulate eaten and rotten flesh.

To get the teeth marks I used an old paint brush and dipped in super glue to harden it a little and then gently pushed it in the drying putty. To simulate blood I used Games Workshops Gore Red first then Dark Flesh and then a two part mix of Red Gore and Chaos Black.

I know alot of people are going to think damn man are you insane you destroyed a perfectly good Indy uniform, and yes I am but it would'nt be a zombie Indy if the clothing was all nice and clean. To simulate the rips and tears I used a very sharp model knife and scissors and then tore the clothing to get a better look. The bone in his right hand is from the same skeleton and has had the same treatment done to it to simulate flesh.

2: Base - The base is from a 7" Disney Indy figure and has had railway static grass and dirt from the garden added to it, once both materials were dried I used Games Workshop paints Dark Green and gave the grass a gentle wash of it and then let it dry. Once dry I used pastels to weather both the grass and dirt a little more, the plants are fishtank plants and teh skull is again from the skeleton.

Indiana Jones  1/6

I want another simple dio which showed off the Indy figure in a jungle setting. Once the dio was built and the figure was in the right pose I painted/weathered and dry brushed everything using Vallejo, Games Workshop paints and pastels.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The Indy figure is from Sideshow except the fedora which is from and is the The frontline custom heads  older style fedora, This was an ideal as I wanted him to have a tall hat like in raiders.

The boots are from the 12" Hasbro talking Indy, I liked these boots as they have fantastic detail to them. The machette is from a WW2 Australian Light Horse figure and the artifact is from the hasbro 3-3/4" indy figures, I just cut is in half and gave it a weather.

2: Base - The base is a picture frame which I got from the wife after the glass had broke. The column is a poster packing tube I picked up from the post office and covered it in plaster of paris, the dried vines are called dodo vines and the moss I picked up from the florist shop.

The leafy vines and plants on the ground are plastic fish tank plants and the ground is plaster painted and then mulch was used to cover it to give it a more realistic jungle look.

Indiana Jones and The Mayan Pit Trap 1/6

The year is 1935 and while searching an old Mayan temple Indy accidently sets of a hiden trap door in the floor of the temple and send Indy sliding 100 metres into a large square pit. Indy picks himself up and searches for a way out, he notices a lever about 10 meteres high on the far wall and he then suddenly he hears a loud crunching noise and the pit starts to fill with water.

The water starts to rise with incredible speed and Indy starts to climb the pit wall to release the lever, and again he hears another crunching noise and he wonders what is going to happen next. He does'nt have to wait to long when he feels something starts to wrap around his legs, he looks down and the head of a huge water python is starting to coil it's self around him.

Indy starts to panic and thinks to himself "I Hate Snakes" and a bloody big one at that, he starts to feel pressure on his legs and he gets pulled under and then is brought back up again as the python lost it's grip for a split section. Indy knows that if he does'nt get out of this mess he's dead for sure, He stops himself from panicking and grabs a small machette from his bag and by this time the python as wrapped itself up to Indy's waist, Indy grabs the python's neck area and gets ready to stab it before it can either crush him or bite him.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones & Snake - Everything is from The Sideshow Toys Indy figure except the pants which are from the Relic Hunter figure and the Fedora which is from The frontline custom head  and is the older type fedora. Th e machette is from a WW2 Aussie Digger figure and the snake I got from a $2 shop it and Indy have been repainted using Vallejo, Reaper and GW paints.

2: Base - The base is made up from foam core and balsa wood once the frame and back sections were done thin sheets of foam was used to make the stone section. Once everyting was dry I used plaster to cover the whole thing and again let dry and then weathered and painted it using Vallejo paints.

I let the whole dio dry for about 4 hours, I used modelers clay to build up the water and used the clay to simulate gushing water coming from the walls. I then covered the clay with plaster and painted it using GW paints, I then let dry and then drybrushed it with matt white to simulate froth. I used Woodland Scenics real water and covered the water and indy and left it to dry for 24 hours before applying another coat.

RENE BELLOQ  1/6

I've had the Belloq figure when I got him with the Gold idol pedestal and finally decided to do something with him. I thought about the jungle scene but other customizers have done that so I thought I would go with him when he is in the Tanis dig site.

RECIPE

1: Rene Belloq - Is from Sideshow Toys, the only things that aren't are the watch, map, goggles and the statue. The watch is from a WW2 Dragon figure, the map has been downloaded of the net and then printed off, the goggles are made from a piece of clear plastic with pieces from the bits box and the statue is from the 3-3/4" indy figures I thought it just looked good Belloq holding it.

2: Base - The base is two pieces of foam core glued together and left to dry overnight, the wall is large foam pieces cut to size and pulled apart to get the decade look and then glued to the base.

Once everything has dried plaster of paris was used to cover the wall and then kitty litter and fien sand was added to the rest of the plaster and the rest of the base was covered. When the plaster dried I used Vallejo paints and pastels to paint and weather the base.

Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark (The Face of Death!!!) 1/6

The Inspiration

I was watching the making of Indiana Jones the other day and when I say the ghost from the ark I decided to give it a go. I had a lot of fun making this figure and also is a great addition to my growing personal collection.

RECIPE

1: Ghost - the ghost was made from the top half of a cheap glow in the dark skeleton I got of ebay. Modelers putty was used to make the rotten flesh on the hands and face, the eyes are small balls. once the putty dried I painted the flesh with varies flesh, browns and tan colours to get the desired affect,

Putty was used at the back of the ghost for balance and then tissue paper was used as the cloth and thin wire was attached to the skeletons frame so the tissue could be attached and look like it's flowing. The tissue was given a coat of diluted wood glue to make it firm.

2: Base - The base is from a two dollar shop and and the rod is plasti rod with a wooden food sewer inserted thru the middle to give it support, the poster I got of the net and just down sized it.

Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom (Rope Bridge Dilemma)  1/6

When I did the 3-3/4" rope bridge dio I wanted to make a 12 inch Rope bridge dio just with Indy and after a finally completing a few other Indy diorama's decided to give it ago. I picked myself up another Sideshow Indy and got straight into making the dio and was more then happy with the end result.

I used Vallejo and GW paints on the figure and diorama and then used pastels to weather the diorama and Indy figure. I have to thank a friend of mine called MFisher over on Sideshow Freaks forums for putting me onto the pastels. These are without adoubt the best things to use when weathering models, scenery etc.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - Everything is from The Sideshow Toys Indy figure except the right arm which is from another figure and the shoes which are from Hasbro's 12 inch Indiana Jones figure. I removed the right sleeve and the small bead like buttons and replaced them using buttons from a Dragon WW2 American shirt.

2: Base - The cliff face I picked up from the local pet shop it's a foam back drop used in fish tanks, Once I got it home I cut out the desired length and height and used balsa wood as a frame and also for strength. Once the frame work was done I then used plaster of paris to cover the existing foam detailing to get the sand stone effect.

The rope bridge is a combination of balsa wood which was used for the blanks and a mixture of different sizes of rope which I got from the local hardware shop. The arrows were made using plasti rod and paper and once all the parts were connected and glued inplace I used Vallejo, GW paints and Pastels to paint and weather the entire diorama.

Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom  1/6

I picked myself up another Indy figure the other week for the sole purpose of creating a Temple of Doom Indy. When I started weathering and painting everything I decided to keep the figure articulated instead of the normal statue type figures that I do so I could put him in different positions.

All except the right arm which can't be articulated as the rubber on the arm if moved will cause the paint to start flaking and cracking, I used Vallejo, Games Workshop and Pastel to paint and weather him and the base.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - Everything is from The Sideshow Toys Indy figure except the right arm which is from another figure which I can't remember right now and the sword which is from the Relic Hunter. I removed the right sleeve and the small bead like buttons and replaced them using buttons from a Dragon WW2 American shirt.

I added a buckle clip using a pin and the bandage on the right hand is a piece of old cloth, I also cut the back of his shirt and his left pants leg using a pair of sharp scissors.

2: Base - The base is two pieces of foam core glued togther and then cardboard attached to give it strength. I used a stand that you get with a lot of the Dragon figures, I glued the stand inplace and then covered the whole base using plaster of paris, woodglue, finesand and small railway gravel. Once dry I painted the base with different shades of browns and sands.

Nazis. I Hate these guys. (The search for the Seal of Solomon) 1/6

March 12th 1938, the US Government intercepts a German communique stating that Hitler is looking for clues to a mythological artifact called the Seal of Soloman. And yet again the US Government travels to Barnett Collage to see if Jones will find the Seal of Solomon and find out what it is and does.

Jones tells them that the Legend has it that the Seal of Solomon was a magical signet ring said to have been possessed by King Solomon, which variously gave him the power to command demons, genies,or to speak with animals. Indy also mentions that there are 6 markers that make up a stone tablet that shows the whereabouts of the Seal of Solomon. After hearing this information they ask Jones will he try and find the Seal of Solomon before the Nazis do.

Jones agrees and the next day heads of, March 17th 1938 after reaching an old ruined castle on the borders of France and Germany Jones does a little archeological work and finds a marker that could lead him to the Seal of Solomon. But before he can leave he is jumped upon by a Nazi soldier who was patrolling the area. Thee two start brawling, Jones taken by surprise at first realizes it's a Nazi solder and thinks to himself Nazis.I Hate these guys.

Jones not wanting the soldier to raise an alarm gives him one final blow that knocks him out, after tying the soldier up he picks up his marker and high tails it out of there before anymore patrols come thru and to figure out his next move.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - Everything is from The Sideshow Toys Indy figure it has been repainted and weathered using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints.

2: German Soldier - The body is a Sideshow Toys Indy body as it is perfectly proportioned and the uniform fits very well. The uniform and equipment are from Dragon models and the head is from The frontline custom heads and was a limited run of Jack O'Niell sculpt. It was repainted and weathered using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints.

3: Base - The base is a picture I got from a $2 shop, I built the floor section up using foam core and the scribed the stone section into using a model knife and tweezers. I small wall ruin is foam cut and glued inplace, I then covered the whole thing with 90% plaster of Paris and 10% woodglue.

Once the plaster dried I painted it using Vallejo paints, the static grass and moss are both from Woodland Scenic's, the grass was left to dry and then given a wash of Vallejo's Dark Green and then dry brushed with Vallejo's light Green.

Indiana Jones " I Hate Snakes"

Original Image by 'Eric L Conklin, Wind Chime Manor, USA'.

I was looking at THE RAIDER.NET the other day and they had a new art works  added to the artist area so I went and had a look. There was one particular artist's painting that I liked so I went and viewed his website, He had a painting of Indy's gear hanging from wall mounts inside a picture frame which I thought looked totally amazing.

On seeing this painting I contacted the painter and asked would he mind if I made he's painting into a 3D interpertation and he kindly agreed. The painters name is Eric Conklin he also does other great paintings so go and have a look at his site www.ericconklin.com you won't be dissapointed.

RECIPE

1: Clothing & Equipment - Are all from the Sideshow Toys Indy figure, I have added a small O-ring to the pistol and have reapinted and weathered all the gear using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints.

2: Frame & backdrop - The frame is from a $2 shop and the backdrop is a scan section of the Hasbro KOTCS redemption figure. I I printed it off and added a top and lower section using balsa wood and glued the printed section to the balsa wood. I also added a wall hanger using the same procedure as the top/lower section and then cut small sections of skewers and attached them to the wall mount.

The stencilling is a font called Octin Stencil and it can be found under the military section of any font site on the web.

Damn Fools!!! (ROTLA) 1/6

This is a nice simple custom that I've wanted to do for a long time, I wanted to have the feel of Indy in the Drak Blue suit from ROTLA but also add my own touches to it. I decided to give him a Dark Blue pinned striped suit but making sure not to make the stripes to dominate.

The suit was given a wash over using watered down material glue and once dry was given 3 light coats of Dark Blue, and again once dry it was given a drybrush of a mix of Dark Blue and Off White to give it a little definition. The handkerchief in the breast was added as I liked the look of it and gave the whole figure that 30's feel.

The enevelope was added to the figure as I felt it needed something else in the dio, it was taken from the net and printed off and glued in place.

 RECIPE

1: Body & Hands - The whole figure from head to toe is the SideShow Toys Indy body, except the hands which are from an old Star Trek AMT Scotty figure.

2: Head, Fedora and shoes - Are from Sideshows toys and the whiskers were sanded off to give Indy a shaven look and the head and Fedora were repainted as were the shoes.

3: Shirt & Suit - The shirt is from the Relic hunter and the suit is and old Playmates Start Trek suit, The suit has been modified to fit the SS body.

4: Base - The base is a small picture frame which I got from a craft shop for $2. The tiled floor I scanned from a 1/35 scale tiled floor I have and resized and altered to fit the base.

Climbing out of the Map Room  (ROTLA) 1/6

When the Sideshow Toys Indy first hit the stores I picked myself up a few of them and decided to do a few diorama's with them as there such a fantastic great looking figure. But as we customizers know things need that little extra detailing or that little extra something to make it unique.

Thats why I opted to do Indy in robes from ROTLA and have the scene were Sallah throws Indy down the make shift rope using sheets and a swastika so he can climb out of the map room.

RECIPE

1: Body - The whole figure from head to toe is the SideShow Toys Indy body, The body is so loose the only thing that I could do to it is superglue all the joints and use it for a diorama. The head is the best sculpt I've seen of Harrison in this scale.

2: Shirt, Pants & Bag - Are from Sideshow Toys, they have been given a slight wash to tone down the colours.

3: Robes - The robes are left over material I had from another Map room Indy I did a while back, so instead of sewing this outfit I used material glue as it wasn't going to be moved around like the last one.

4: Flag & Sheets - Are made from the some material as the robes, the white sheets were cut to size and glued to the coat hanger that holds them up about 6 inchs above Indy's head giving the impression they are dangling so he can climb out.

They were given a spray of matt white once they were in place. The Swastika emblem was hand drawn and then painted over with vallejo paints.

5: Base - The base I got from a craft shop for $3, the fallen stones are foam pieces which have been cut and pulled apart to get the desired look. They were then covered in plaster of paris mixed with woodglue (PVA) and fine sand as was the base.

The base was left to dry for a few hours and then the stones were painted and them more fine sand was added to the base to give it more depth.

Indy leaps from the steps forgetting the pressure pads and the darts that will surely exit there resting place and try to hit him, ESACPING THE TEMPLE is Indy's only concern.

Once I got the desired pose on the figure I used Vallejo and Games Workshop paints to repaint and drybrush the figure and base.

RECIPE

1: Head & Fedora - Are both both from The frontline custom heads this is the new head and fedora.

2: Body & Hands - The body is from Dragon and the hands are from Sideshow toys.

Indiana Jones (The Descent) 7 inch

While on an expedition in the South American Jungle Indaina Jones discovers a cavern with ancient ruins inside, He quickly grabs a rope and starts the DESCENT down to discover what treasures and mysteries can be found. This was a really fun dio to make as it didn't have to do with anything from the movies so I could make what I wanted.

Once the dio and figure were built and puttied they were painted using Vallejo, Repaer and Games Workshop paints.

I wanted to give this diorama a feeling that Indy is climbing down the rope but I also wanted to add depth by adding different levels such as the columns and stones being different levels, and making the rope hang in mid air as if it's tied to something and amking it longer then the column.

To simulate Indy decsending down the rope while in mid air I drilled a hole in the column and in Indy's leg and cut some coat hanger wire and inserted it both into both.

RECIPE

1: The figure and base - The figure/base are from Disney's 7" line the figures joints have been superglued and then sculpty clay used to fill in the gaps. It was the repainted and hand from a 7" Star Trek figure were replaced with the original hands.

The base has had an extra column added by cutting of the top and then gluing another one on top, the part that was cut off was added to the base. The stone blocks have been put into place then an axtra smal stone block was added and placed on top of one if the buried stone blocks.

The plants are a combination of plastic fish tank plants which have been drybrushed, lichen moss which a got from a craft store and model railway shrubs from woodland scenics. The dirt is fine sand reapainted and dry brushed, The bones are from some dinosaurs kits I had in my bits box.

  UPDATED 31/05/2008                                                                                                               SOLD

Indiana Jones (German Desert Disguise) 1/6

I was looking thru my bits box and found two more Indy heads and straight away I knew I wanted to make Indy in Desert uniform when he is on the Island in ROTLA. In the movie when he first knocks out the German soldier and tries putting on the uniform and then there's another German standing above him I noticed that when he puts the uniform on it doesn't have rank.

I figured that if this soldier is ordering Indy around that he has to have some sought of rank so I gave my Indy a NCO (non commissioned officer) uniform that's the yellow strip around the collar.

RECIPE

1: Head - Is from The frontline custom heads this is the new head. I gave the head a little darker skin then I usually do as I figured that if he's out in the water and holding onto the periscope that he would get a little sun burnt.

2: Body & Hands - The body and hands are both from Dragon.

3: Uniform - The whole unirom is from Dragon. The uniform was boiled in hot water with washing detergent and a quarter of a teaspoon of bleach was used to tone down the colours. When the cloths have dried I put them on the body and gave them wash's to simulate the colour's I wanted.

4: Base - The base is foamcore, I traced a 7" Disney base onto the foamcore and then cut it out. The boxes/crates  under the tarp are pieces of foam cut to size and glued in place. I then covered the foam with cloth and use watered down cloth glue to glue it down.

I then covered the base using plaster of paris and used a mix of 50/50 plaster and Vallejo's Khaki, when th mixture was mixed together I dabbed it over the base to give it a concrete. When the plaster dried I then gave the base a wash of Mattblack and then dried brushed it with khaki and off white to give it a concrete look.

Indiana Jones (Adventure Gear) 1/6

I had extra parts left over to make another Indy figure and decided to make a figure on a small diorama but nothing to over the top just something to compliment the figure itself. I had looked around the net and seen a lot of statues and figures in poses with Indy flicking his whip or hold a golden idol.

So I thought that I would make him as if he was down in a Egyptian Tomb holding a flaming torch. The figure and base were both made seperately and then painted using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints. The clothing has been given a worn look by boiling them in boilng hot soapy water then once dry they were sanded using very fine coarse sand paper.

RECIPE

1: Head & Fedora - Are both both from The frontline custom heads this is the new head and fedora.

2: Body & Hands - Are from Sideshow Toys, I wanted I taller and slim lined body and SideShow's was a perfect choice.

Indiana Jones & The Pharaoh's Tomb  7 inch

I had a few of the Disney Indy bases and a Indy figure left over so I figured that I would make something out of them to display my growing 7 " collection. All items were painted and drybrushed using Vallejo and Reaper miniature paints.

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figure was repainted is another Disney Indy I repainted him using Vallejo and Reaper minaitures, I also wanted to give him gloves so I used a set from a 7" Artasylum Captain Archer (away team). I sanded down the excess ridges and drilled holes to fit them onto the figure.

2: Base -  The base is two of the Disney bases, I cut about 10mm of the edges and glued them together then glued the bases to some foamcore sheet and cut and sanded the edges to the edge of the base.

With the columns I used one normal size one to the right side and cut another colums and attached that to make the left side taller, and the stone slabs were then added. The sarcoghagus and mummy are from a 12" GI-JOE figure, the torch's are from a Angel acton figure set I cut the tops down and added flams from a Marvel Fantastic 4 human torch figure. The canopic jar is from a Mummy figure and the artifact is from a 4" star trek figure and the jewel is from the Hasbro old Indy figure.

3: Whip, Bag and accessories - The bag I kept the rubber/plastic bag section and cut off the plastic strap and added real leather for the straps. I cut off the whip section and the hand grip and added real leather to both ends, The snakes are ffrom a two dollar shop repainted.

1: Figure - The figure is again the Disney figure I removed the arms and jacket sections and replaced the right arm with a 7" Artasylum Mirror Universe Captain Kirk arm and the left arm is from a 7" Artasylum Battle Damage Kirk.

Professor Jones & His Class Room  7 inch

In keeping up with the 7" Indiana Jones diorama's I naturally thought that the class room would be a great addition to my collection, The diorama isn't 100% accurate I added parts from ROTLA such as the chalk board and other items and the rest of the items were added to suite my taste. As always once the diorama was completed I used Vallejo, Repaer and GW paints to paint and drybrushed them to the desired look.

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figure is again the Disney figure (I really like this figure), I replaced his jacket with a suit jacket from a Angel Series figure. I cut and sanded down his collar and used cloth to make a new collar, tie and vest jacket. The chain is to show that he has an old style waist coat watch, The glasses are pieces of plasticard tubing and strips cut and snaded down to size.

2: Base - The base and bench were made using balsa wood and foamcore sheets, once cut all parts were then sanded and glued in place.

  UPDATED 14/01/2008                                                                                                                     SOLD

Indiana Jones & The Map Room  7 inch

When I did the first Disney 7" Indiana Jones figure I knew that I had to do more customs of him and also do other bases to simulate the scenery they were in. So the first one of the rank is Indy in Desert outfit and a custom map room. I have also done a little conversion work to him to get better articulation in the arms(detials below). When the figure and base were done I used Vallejo, Repaer and GW paints to paint and drybrushed them to the desired look.

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figures arms and jacket were removed and then arms from a Angel figure were used as the arms have articultion which can swivel at the bicep area. The hands are from a 7" Artasylum Star Trek figure.

The turbin and robes are real cloth the robes were cut out and glued together using cloth glue, the turbin was done by using strips of the same cloth as the robes but were given a wash of Vallejo paint to make it more movie correct.

2: Base - With the base I used foamcore sheets and placed the original base that came with the figure and traced around it, I then cut out the base and sanded the edges. The buildings which aren't movie accurate I used marine foam I cut and sanded the desired look and glued them to the base.

Once the buildings dried I used a 3 part mix of plaster/fine sand/PVA-woodglue and mixed all the contents together and brushed the mix over the buildings. When the mix dried I painted and drybrushed using Vallejo paints to get the desired look.

3: Bag, Staff of Ra, Map and Tape Measure - The bag is from the figure and cut off the plastic strap and added real leather for the straps and the rubber buckle was cut from the plastic starp sanded and glued in place.

The Staff of Ra has been printed of the net downsized and glued onto some cardboard and then given a coat of Woodlands Scenics Realistic Water to give it that shine, it was then glued onto a skewer stick. The map and tape measure were taken from the net and down sized and printed off.

Indiana Jones  7 inch

This is Disney's 7" Indiana Jones which you can get from the store at the Indiana Jones attraction. I received the figure from a friend and once I got it I knew I had to repaint it and redo the base. The figure and base were painted using Vallejo, Repaer and GW paints.

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figure was repainted I added his whip holder by using leather and the also added webbing material to his pants belt so it look more like the movie version instead of just being plain like the figure had.

2: Base - The base is actually vey detailed just not painted very well, I went about doing he base as jungle scenery you could go about doing it as eygptian scenery you just have to get rid of the bamboo. I added real dirt which I got from the back yard and the static grass and vines are from Woodland Sceneics.

Once the static grass, vines and dirt dried I gave then a wash and then drybrushed them to get the deisred look and then let dry, Once all areas were dry I used plastic fish tank plants for the larger plants, I just painted and drybrushed them to the desired colour.

3: Whip, Bag and accessories - The whip you get with the figure is again very nice except you can't roll it so I cut off the whip section and the hand grip and added real leather to both ends. The bag I kept the rubber/plastic bag section and cut off the plastic strap and added real leather for the straps.

The accessories I just repainted the antidote vial as it was all brown and also added the blue ticket to the dairy. Once everything was dry I used Testors Dull-Coate to protect the paint.
